My first heart surgery was when I was just 4 years old. That was in 1976.
When I was born, the doctors saw that my aortic valve was not responding well and during this operation they made some adjustments in the hospital. For twenty years I had no problems with my health. In 1996 I had another operation. My aortic valve started leaking again and they did the ROSS procedure. The ROSS procedure involves placing the pulmonary valve in place of the aorta and placing a donor valve in place of the pulmonary artery.

From that moment on I started having more problems with my health:

- Asthma

- Polyps in my nasal passages

- Worse condition

- More inflammation in my body

- Stuffy and short of breath

I was told to take a course of antibiotics at every dentist visit, so that any bad bacteria could not reach my heart and cause problems.

I have also been advised to get the flu shot every year. For 16 years I dutifully followed this advice.

But antibiotics are very bad for the intestinal flora and our immune system is by 70% produced in our intestines. So with every course I took, my immune system went down a bit.

From 2004 I also had the feeling that my lungs were getting less and less. Working out became more and more strenuous/tiring and it was harder to breathe enough air and oxygen.

I suspect I've had cardiomiopathy since then.

End of part one!

Research: 'Time to Energize Coenzyme Q10 for patients with heart failure?

KiSel-10 & Q-Symbio: Revolutionary Research An important study into the relationship between Q10 and cardiovascular disease was the KiSel-10 study, named after the location of the research Kisa, selenium and Q10. More than 400 over-70s participated in the study. One half received for 4 years Q10 and selenium supplements every day, the other half placebos (dummy pills). The group that received supplements was up to 54% less likely to die from cardiovascular disease. The heart muscle was also stronger in this group. Another important study was the Q-Symbio study. This showed that Q10 supplements greatly improve the survival rate of people with a weak heart. The use of Q10 supplements also resulted in fewer hospital admissions due to heart problems. So Q10 seems to be very important, not only with aging (when Q10 levels decrease), but for anyone with heart problems. And I also mean heart failure, myocardial infarction and after a stroke.   Cholesterol, good or bad?! Inflammations can (sometimes) occur in our body and when we have exercised a lot, for example, our body and our muscles will have to recover. Cholesterol is very important in this and so it is good that cholesterol is present in our body. However, when there are too many inflammations in our body and also by the heart, our body will produce more and more cholesterol to deal with those inflammations. When we have too much cholesterol in our body, it can accumulate in the artery walls. And that is not good news, because eventually this can lead to cardiovascular problems. Cholesterol is therefore a building block of our body and is mainly produced in our liver. Statin the best-selling drug in the world! When we have high cholesterol, the doctor prescribes statins to lower the cholesterol. But the statins not only lower cholesterol, but also our body's own substance Co-enzyme Q10.  Q10 is very important for our heart health, so we don't want it to be ...
